Able Farms PDX came from humble origins, with a motto of “We are Strong, we are Passionate, we are Able”. It intially started as a farm, land restoration project, and umbrella for my artistic and culinary endeavors farm roughly in 2009 on Wapato Island aka Sauvie Island in Portland, OR. The ‘agricultural’ component of the farm has since been on hiatus, as I am focusing intensely on my artistic endeavors imbued with land stewardship on a scale that goes beyond Oregon.
Able Farms PDX has been a foundation for many of my passions to come together under one umbrella. I am balancing my art focus alongside my agricultural and land stewardship career. The two are seamlessly intertwined.
In the past, Able Farms has had a successful CSA program, been a part of a local farmers market, and held numerous fundraisers, dinner collaborations, weddings, and workshops. I co-created the Portland CSA Share Fair, hold a B.S. in Environmental Science, am a U.S. Pork Quality Assurance trainer, Small Farms School poultry instructor, Oregon Master Preserver, B.F.A. Intermedia Arts from PNCA. And an advocate for small farms and producers who do right by their land, animals, and communities. The farm focused on raising non-conventional and heritage pastured based livestock. We are a proud member of the Livestock Conservancy. I specialize in land management, Native restoration, livestock integration, Able Farms still finds moments to curate intimate gatherings that are rooted in agriculture, viticulture, Indigenous principles, artistic installations, and culinary systems-begging questions and designing avenues around social, spiritual & food justice issues.
